Grand Coude tea in the spotlight

The production of Labyrinthe en-Champ-Thé, the exploitation of Johny Guichard in Grand Coude, has just obtained the Thé de France label. Recently created, this label promotes the teas produced, processed and packaged on the national territory, to distinguish them from those made in France from imported raw materials.

It will help to better identify Grand Coude tea in the eyes of French consumers., who still have difficulty placing Reunion Island on a map. It was in 2005 that Johny Guichard took up the challenge of relaunching Reunion tea production., after the attempt in the 1960s which ended in a resounding failure : on the family property located at an altitude of 1,100 m on the heights of Saint-Joseph, tea plants had gone wild, forming a forest converted into a fun labyrinth : The Labyrinthe en-Champ-Thé is also an agrotourism company. New tea plants have been cultivated, Johny Guichard learned to prepare the leaves. It was for some time the only producer of French tea. Others followed suit, in mainland France and elsewhere overseas. And once again he is the first, this time for obtaining the Thé de France label.
