A new secretary general for the IOC
In international entities, the regime change that occurred in October 2025 in Madagascar causes delayed waves within the representations of the Big Island. Edgard Razafindravahy, Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Commission since July 2024, was thus asked to give up his place to Ibrahim Norbert Richard, who will hold the position until the end of the mandate, in July 2028. This career diplomat was appointed diplomatic advisor to the Malagasy Prime Minister last November. Since 2020, he was Under-Secretary General of the Organization of African States, Caribbean and Pacific.
Directoi, regional market place
The Medef Réunion, the Malagasy Business Group, the Madagascar Industries Union and the CCI France Madagascar have announced a regional market place project, called Directoi, early April in Tananarive for the CEO Summit. This market place, which appears in the resolutions taken at the end of these economic meetings, aims to be “a tool for facilitating commercial exchanges between companies in the Indian Ocean basin”. Directoi is called upon to integrate actors from Mayotte, from Mauritius, from Seychelles, or even the Comoros.
