Cjaguare with the graffiti artist Jace, the third collector's collection from the local chocolatier was unveiled at the end of July. Wholandbrant the return of these sea giants around our island, it renews Mascarin’s commitment to the’cetacean protection association Globice.
The southern winter is synonymous with humpback whales off the coast of Reunion. It is to mark this meeting while raising awareness among the general public about the preservation of these giants of the seas that Mascarin imagined, three years ago, Operation Whale. The latter returns this year for a third edition. On July 27, Mascarin unveiled a collection of chocolates in a collector's metal box decorated with Jace., well-known figure of Reunion street art. Since he started, Operation Whale is part of an approach to promoting local creation by entrusting each edition to an artist from the island. After Vincent Bac in 2024 then the duo MNK-The Oscian in 2025, Mascarin chose to collaborate with Jace.
Gouzos and whales
Faithful to his universe, Jace stages his famous “gouzous” in the company of whales visiting the coasts of Reunion. Between humor and fantasy, his illustrations celebrate the encounter between man and animal with all the sensitivity and mischief characteristic of his work. These works adorn the two collector’s boxes of the operation. They are also available on two emblematic tablets of the brand (dark caramel and milk caramel), thus extending the encounter between the universe of Jace and the know-how of Mascarin. Each box contains an assortment of Mascarin chocolates with a caramel center and Saint-Leu salt.
More than a box of chocolates
This time again, Operation Whale has a surprise in store for chocolate lovers : 110 Golden Tickets were slipped randomly into the collector boxes. Winners will receive an art print signed by Jace. New this year : Mascarin offers content on the back of its collector tablets : thanks to a QR code, consumers access a podcast produced in collaboration with Leon Guide. An invitation to discover the world of whales, their migration, their behaviors, their presence in Reunion waters, as well as the issues linked to their preservation. Finally, In each box we find the educational leaflet designed with Globice allowing you to discover these fascinating animals and learn about the observation practices to follow.
