On the occasion of its 11th anniversary, the Reunion company accelerates the deployment of PV Lease, its photovoltaic offer by subscription.
A solution allowing individuals to access this energy without initial investment or bank credit, thanks to a monthly subscription.
To support the development of this model, the company has raised nearly 8 million euros as part of a European program intended to support innovation, particularly in projects linked to ecological transition, environmental and greening of the economy. At the meeting, around 200,000 homes are affected by solar potential. Presented for the first time at the Salon de la Maison in May 2025, the Free Energy subscription offer has since attracted growing interest from households on the island. In less than a year, nearly 150 subscriptions have already been signed. The company records around a dozen appointment requests per day. Free Energy is now accelerating its deployment with the ambition of making access to solar energy as simple as a daily subscription, like the new subscription models emerging in Europe, like those carried by SunLib or Sunology.
Three prices depending on household consumption
Despite an exceptional level of sunshine, access to solar power remains hampered by the cost of installation. This is the observation. “For a decade, we support the people of Reunion in their energy transition with a simple mission : make solar energy accessible, reliable and durable. We wanted to go further by imagining a more flexible solution that is better adapted to the current realities of households”, explains Thierry Garcia, manager of Free Energy. PV Lease offers a new way to access solar energy. Households produce their own electricity using a photovoltaic installation accessible through a 180-month subscription. They choose between three monthly rates depending on household consumption : 49,90 €, 89,90 €, or 129,90 €. The offer includes the installation of photovoltaic panels, maintenance and upkeep, monitoring energy production, as well as personalized technical support.
Solar energy as a service
The principle proposed by Free Energy is based on a principle of functionality : consume solar energy as a service. This approach is part of an evolution of uses where consumers favor subscription rather than purchase. “For a long time, solar has been seen as a complex and expensive investment. With the subscription, we want to remove these obstacles and make it accessible to as many people as possible. » This development is part of a collective dynamic driven by the Free Energy team which also includes Samuel Gonthier, sales manager, Nicolas Cadet for administrative and financial coordination, and Christophe Mulot in purchasing management.
