Solum is a leader in electronic shelf labeling (ESL). Simbe Robotics is behind the Tally robot, which scans the shelves to identify missing products and check the prices displayed. Cooperation between the two players integrates more autonomous intelligence into Solum’s Newton electronic label infrastructure.

This collaboration was highlighted at the end of February at the EuroShop global trade fair., where Simbe's Store Intelligence platform was demonstrated on the Solum stand. Simbe unveiled Tally 4.0, the new generation of its autonomous ray scanning robot, illustrating the company's continued progress in the digitalization of shelves. This version includes extended battery life, enhanced edge computing capabilities (processing data from its point of origin : sensors, smartphones, etc.), as well as advanced computer vision capabilities. Now, The integration of Simbe’s autonomous radius data with Solum’s Newton ESL platform enables distributors to connect real-time visibility and reliable digital execution. Price differences, Stock shortages and merchandising non-conformities identified by the platform can be instantly reflected via Newton ESL, designed to ensure stable connectivity, rapid updates and centralized cloud-based management across vast store networks. This combination reduces reliance on manual in-store audits, while establishing a continuous loop between the physical state of the rays and digital communication. It reinforces price consistency, improves product availability and supports overall operational discipline in dynamic retail environments.
The digitalization of the shelves
During EuroShop, retailers learned how autonomous point-of-sale intelligence and scalable ESL infrastructure can work together in a unified store model. The demonstration sparked fruitful discussions around deployment strategies and integration pathways, the two companies confirming their desire to continue their collaboration with interested European retailers to accelerate their smart store modernization initiatives. « Tally 4.0 marks a key step in connecting digital decision-making to physical reality in stores. Our data platform is designed to integrate with new social and conversational commerce environments”, underlines Paul Warren, VP Sales EMEA at Simbe. As for the general director of Solum Europe, Daniel Lee, he reminds : “When operating within a connected retail ecosystem, physical intelligence in stores becomes a real lever for transformation. The integration of Simbe autonomous robotics with our Newton ESL backbone extends this ecosystem to the shelf. »
