After managing the B2B activities of CANAL+TELECOM, Sébastien Aubé was appointed general manager of the company on July 1. On the mission : accelerate the development of the operator, strengthen the quality of service and support the growth of telecoms activities among individuals, businesses and communities.

Meeting Leader : Can you recall the scope of activity and specialties of CANAL+TELECOM ?

Sébastien Aubé : CANAL+TELECOM is a telecom operator present in two segments : the general public and professionals. For individuals, we offer CANAL+ fiber, a very high-speed internet box marketed by CANAL+ subsidiaries in Reunion and the Antilles-Guyana. Pro side, we support businesses and communities with dedicated fiber offers and telecoms solutions to secure and develop their activity.

What is your roadmap ?
My mission is clear : make CANAL+TELECOM the benchmark operator in optical fiber and telecom solutions in overseas territories. My first priority is to offer the best service to our customers. Today, when a customer subscribes to a fiber offer, he expects responsiveness, a high-performance internet connection and rapid commissioning. This is a major issue for us. My second priority is to promote what makes us strong and specific in our markets. : the wealth of CANAL+ content. We can indeed offer high-performance fiber offers associated with this content, which brings real added value to our customers. It’s an ultra-differentiating positioning that we are the only ones able to offer in our markets.. And finally, my goal is for CANAL+TELECOM to become the essential partner on the business and community market. Our ambition is to support the digital transformation of our customers with connectivity solutions, cybersecurity, managed networks and hosting adapted to their needs. In Reunion in particular, where optical fiber is very developed and where competition is strong, quality of service, innovation and the proximity of our teams will be key factors of success and differentiation.

CANAL+TELECOM is already a reference for professionals.
How to strengthen this position ?
We are recognized as the reference operator for large private and public accounts which have specific connectivity needs and a high level of requirements.. Among our references and to give you an example, the State Interministerial Network is one of our clients : we ensure the interconnection of all State entities in the Overseas Territories. Thanks to more than 30 years of expertise, we can meet complex connectivity needs, both at the local level, whether regional or international. We combine this strength with the advantage of proximity. By proximity, I mean the local presence in each territory and also the operationality of our technical support 24 hours a day thanks to the establishment of our teams in the Antilles, in Guyana and the Indian Ocean.

Your background reflects dual technical and commercial skills. Can you describe it ?
Telecoms engineer, I started at Bouygues Télécom, then join Orange, before joining the Digicel operator, where I spent 14 years. Evolving to the position of Deputy General Manager in the Antilles-Guyana, I supervised the marketing and sales strategy as well as technical activities and customer experience. So I know the overseas departments well. In the second chapter of my journey, the time has come for digital transformation in a mature telecoms market. By leading the digital transformation of several operators, I was able to measure the extent to which digital technology could improve the quality of service and the customer experience. I then put this experience to good use in business consulting. Now, I use my knowledge of telecoms, overseas territories and transformation at the service of CANAL+TELECOM. With an additional advantage : the power of the CANAL+ brand, his commitment to cinema, sport and local productions, and its know-how in content aggregation. This is an exciting new chapter opening up for me..

What implications do these developments have?, especially for your teams ?
Our challenge is to anticipate these needs by strengthening our infrastructure — terrestrial networks, submarine cables, data centers — and by offering ever more adapted offers. This is true for our fiber offers intended for the general public as well as for our telecom solutions intended for businesses and communities.. This requires being able to count on expert and committed teams and this is precisely what I have observed since my arrival at CANAL+TELECOM. Our collaborators are all passionate professionals, very attached to their company and their territory. It is a real strength to meet the challenges that await us.
