The union committee of the Joint Household Waste Treatment Union of the North and East of Reunion, which brings together the intercommunities concerned (Cinor and Cirest), validated on September 21 a service provision contract for sorting, treatment, recovery and storage of household waste, and this for a period of one year.
It is attributed to the Suez group, who already held it, for an amount of 31 million euros. Jacques Lowinsky, president of Cinor, made a point of emphasizing that this amount was two million higher than Sydne's estimates and deplored "the effects of a quasi-monopoly position which has a lasting impact on the finances of communities". This temporary market takes over from the previous market, terminated due to lack of competitive bidding, and it gives the two intercommunities one year to find a sustainable solution for receiving final waste on their territory..
