The Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (CPME) changed its identity last June at the national level to become Les Entrepreneurs, thus abandoning the reference to the size of the companies it represents.
Its Reunion representation did the same, last August 27, on the occasion of its back-to-school general meeting. Pascal Plante, president of the employers’ organization since last March, recalled its origins : the creation in 1969 of Sypmer (Union of small and medium-sized enterprises of Réunion), which subsequently became the CGPME then the CPME Réunion.
Beyond the current struggles, and in particular to sustainably preserve the exemptions from charges included in the Lodéom, Entrepreneurs reaffirm their vision, inspired by their former president Dominique Vienne who now sits on national bodies : abandon the posture of peripheral territory in the catching-up phase to assert Reunion as a strategic hub in the Indo-Pacific zone.
