Consumer prices increased by 0,7 % in December 2022 in Reunion, according to the latest INSEE index. As in November, increases are noted in most sectors. Service prices increased by 0,5 %, due in particular to a new increase in transport prices, linked to the seasonal increase in plane tickets (+7,6 %). Those of communication services increased slightly (+0,3 %), while those in health services confirm their decline, and that the prices of rent and related services and other services are stable. Prices of manufactured products continued to rise for the third consecutive month, after the September sales. They progressed by 0,7% on the month, more strongly for clothing and shoes (+1,8 %). Prices of other manufactured goods increased by 0,6 %, those of health products remained stable. In food, the rise in prices has accelerated (+1 %), with fresh products starting to rise again (+0,2 %) after several months of decline. Excluding fresh produce, prices continue to rise (+1,1 %), the increases being more particularly marked for alcoholic beverages, Milk, cheese and eggs. Energy prices have increased by another 2,1 %, after +5,1% in November. The increase is once again driven exclusively by the rise in fuel prices, particularly due to the reduction in state aid from 25 cents to 8 cents per liter of fuel from November 16. The price of gasoline increased by 5,7% in one month and the price of diesel, of 1,4 %, while gas and electricity prices remained stable. Over a year, prices increased by 3,9% in Reunion, significantly less than in France excluding Mayotte (+5,9 %).
