Reunion-Madagascar cooperation goes through Majunga
They had cooled since the arrival of soldiers in power in Tananarive : relations between Reunion and Madagascar are warming up. Early July Wilfrid Bertile, the tireless regional advisor responsible for external relations, met the Minister of the Interior and Decentralization, “in order to discuss in particular the decentralized cooperation partnerships initiated with the Boeny and the great south of Madagascar regions”, indicates the region. Wilfrid Bertile then went to Majunga (Boeny), where he visited the achievements of the Tsiky association which works in the fields of education, of health and the environment with the help of associations and young volunteers from Reunion. A framework agreement for decentralized cooperation with the Boeny region has been signed, as well as the reception of a Malagasy delegation in Reunion in October.
Mauritius and Seychelles will probe the seabed
Mauritius and Seychelles will undertake joint seismic investigations in the seabed of the Mascarene Plateau. This involves identifying the possible presence of petroleum resources, gas and mineral. The two countries chose a French company, Viridien, to carry out this prospecting in an area of nearly 400,000 km2, where previous research had not been conclusive.
