While waiting for the opening of the Durban-Saint-Pierre connection, now announced for the month of July, the Pierrefonds Mixed Union seeks to revive activity in and around the southern airport.

In April, it closed a call for projects aimed at giving concrete form to the different aspects of its general composition plan for 2040 : air connectivity, specialized aviation and public service, industrial services, innovation, formation, drones. Seven operators have positioned themselves : the AéroSud company, which proposes to base ATR 72-600s to serve the region ; the Regourd group (Amelia, which already flies between Mayotte and Reunion for medical evacuations) ; Helilagon ; Air Assistance meeting (RAA, handling), Mecawings, and Aérocampus Aquitaine (formation) ; M3 Systems (drones). “Seven private operators who submit ten projects on a platform in receivership, it’s no longer foresight : it’s a clear market signal”, comments Sébastien Rivas, general director of the Pierrefonds Mixed Union.03
