With 13 Gold, 18 Silver and 7 Bronze, rums, honeys, jams and processed products confirm the qualitative progress of the island’s agricultural sectors.
The Rum category & Punches concentrates most of the Reunion prize list with 26 medals. Rivière du Mât achieves 10 distinctions, including several Gold for its very old traditional and vintage rums. Isautier wins Gold for his Arhumatik Coco Rum Punch. Rhum Métiss is awarded for its Pineapple Flambé arrangements (Or) and Flamboyant Vanilla. Accelerating the interaction between wood and alcohol, aging in a tropical climate creates more concentrated aromatic profiles than in a temperate climate. This parameter partly explains the regular recognition of Reunion rums in national and international competitions. The territorial brand “La Réunion” brought together this year at the International Agricultural Show., under a common banner, 34 exhibitors. For the regional president, Huguette Bello, the results obtained at the SIA proclaim “that Reunionese agriculture exists, that she is ambitious, that it innovates and intends to remain faithful to the essential : the link to the earth, respect for the living, the dignity of work”.
