The Indian company IndiGo Airlines will end its Chennai-Saint-Denis route on October 22, at the end of the current air season.

It was on April 29 that she opened this line, with the hope of relaunching a service abandoned by Air Austral since the 2020 health crisis. Attendance and reservations between Reunion and southern India were visibly insufficient in the eyes of the leading airline on the subcontinent., which had initially scheduled three weekly flights in a 180-seat Airbus A320. The surge in the price of kerosene, started in March, has made it a little more difficult to reach a point of financial balance on a line which interests the people of Reunion Island, especially during school holidays. IndiGo announced the news at the end of July, specifying that travelers who booked their flight after October 22 will be refunded. However, it specifies that it will evaluate “future opportunities to serve Reunion Island, in collaboration with the airport and tourism authorities of Reunion Island, including in the form of seasonal flights in 2027 ».
