Soon a local gastronomy institute

On the occasion of its general meeting organized on May 7, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion has announced the upcoming creation of an institute of Reunion gastronomy.

The project is supported by several partners, alongside the CCIR : the Academy, the Region and the International Institute of Creole Gastronomy-association recently created and chaired by Jean-Charles Bertrand, founder of Mafate Café in Saint-Denis. Pierrick Robert, president of the CCIR, has the ambition to bring to fruition the project of creating a professional title “cook specializing in Creole cuisine of Reunion Island”. The training could be operational from the next school year. It is impatiently awaited by restaurateurs, who struggle to recruit young people with a solid foundation in Creole cuisine. Waiting, The International Institute of Creole Gastronomy is organizing the first “Summit” on May 23 and 24 at Moca de Montgaillard. & International Festival of Creole Chefs », which will begin with the official signing of the letter of intent relating to the launch of Reunionese cuisine training.
