The Flamboyant E.Leclerc Réunion Prizes are present for the eighth year! A particularly ambitious edition since 30 works were named, i.e. around forty local authors, while a new category is born : the Réyéné Adolescent Prize.
This new category establishes the “young adult” genre by rewarding books intended for adolescents aged 12 to 18.. A genre that facilitates the transition between children's books and books for adults, thus helping to develop a taste for reading among adolescents. Among the other five categories, we find the traditional Réyoné Book Prizes, Children's Book Prize, Réyéné Book Prize Self-published, Réyéné Music Prize and Réyoné Terlaba Music Prize. This year again, the objective of the Flamboyant Prizes was to promote Péi creation and to highlight the wealth of talents and creativity of Reunion Island. “We are proud to have succeeded in setting up an event that brings together lovers of Pei literature and local music”, assures Benoît Bustos, director of Cultural Spaces E.Leclerc Réunion.
A jury of professionals, readers' opinions and a public vote
Since 2018 and the first edition, 28 local artists were rewarded, making the Flamboyant Prizes a moment awaited by authors, publishing houses and the public. The votes are distributed between a jury composed of 40% professionals, a jury of Reunion readers selected via a call for applications, also 40%, and finally the public vote (20 %). As usual, an awards evening bringing together the authors, the editors, artists and the public was organized on January 31 at the Espace Kab’Art in Saint-Leu. The opportunity to share a friendly moment around péi creation and to showcase one’s talents.
