The France 2030 Overseas Innovation Plan aims to support the diversification and modernization of overseas economies by supporting innovation in high value-added sectors.. Of the eight projects selected as part of this call for projects, three are from Reunion.
The Overseas Innovation Plan is a continuation of the Overseas Foundations and the Overseas Trajectory Strategy 5.0 for the transformation of French overseas territories. This action brings creativity and innovation, whether they are technical, social or organizational, the spearhead of territorial transformation.
It intends to continue to create the conditions for the emergence of innovative territorial projects which will have a significant economic impact., social and environmental. Led by the General Secretariat for Investment and managed by the Banque des Territoires as part of France 2030, This call for projects follows the call for expressions of interest (AMI) “Overseas Innovation” which enabled the State, in November 2020, to support eight winners to the tune of 1,2 million euros to finance engineering studies with a view to continuing to set up their projects and improving their content and quality. Some of these winners then submitted their applications to the Overseas Innovation Plan call for projects.. The eight winners of the latter were selected on the advice of a jury of independent experts. The eight projects will benefit from overall support from France 2030 of around 14 million euros..
The three Reunion projects
TrétZerbaj
Biodiversity and innovation in Reunion serving the treatment of infectious diseases. This project led by the University of Reunion Island aims to develop a platform for promoting tropical biodiversity through the generation of bioproducts with pharmacological effectiveness against diseases specifically affecting the Reunion Island territory..
Alveoli
This project aims to accelerate the deployment and marketing of innovations in the tropical construction sector, promoting the development of exemplary and exportable solutions for more resilient living spaces.. A project currently supported by the Réunion technopole which could move towards the creation of a cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC).
Giroflee
Giroflee means “innovative management of forest resources for sustainable energy”. This project from the departmental council of Reunion intends to stimulate the construction of a “sustainable territorial ecosystem which ensures the production of endogenous and renewable energy, through innovative management of forest resources”.

Endowed with 54 billion euros, the France 2030 plan currently being deployed reflects the State's ambition to transform key sectors of the economy (health, energy, automobile, aeronautics or even space) through technological innovation and to position France “as a leader in the world of tomorrow”.
