Yes the compliant, association of French food SMEs and mid-sized companies, supports the objective of the government and parliamentarians to accelerate the timetable for commercial negotiations for national brands, the association is opposed to the establishment of thresholds for SMEs and ETIs transforming agricultural and fishing sectors.

During discussions in the National Assembly, ADEPALE calls for the removal of thresholds for establishing commercial negotiations (150 million turnover), in order to avoid any risk of distortion of competition between players and manufacturers of similar products. ADEPALE also proposes a calendar shift of fifteen days (January 30 instead of January 15) in order to allow a more in-depth discussion with large retailers, without calling into question the objective of advancing these commercial negotiations. Finally, on the subject of the discussion which will open beyond the bill on the opportunity for permanent trade negotiations, ADEPALE would like to remind you that food SMEs and mid-sized companies need a negotiation framework to put in place a multi-year investment plan consistent with the food transition and decarbonization objectives desired by consumers and public authorities..

Two priorities to reconcile

Jerome Foucault, president of ADEPALE : “We are reassured that Minister Olivia Grégoire has taken into account our request for equity between large international companies on the one hand and our SMEs and ETIs which transform nearly half of our French agricultural production on the other hand.. The issue is that the specificities of our companies – employers in rural areas, first outlets for our farmers, low margins, colossal investment needs, pillar of food sovereignty — are better understood and better apprehended. Defending the purchasing power of the French is a laudable objective, and we share it every day by adapting our offer, but preserve French production of food products in our territories, and as close as possible to our farmers, must also be elevated to the rank of national priority ! »
