The consumer price index measured by INSEE increased by 0,6% in Reunion in March compared to the previous month.
Prices of manufactured products have started to rise again (+1,1 %) after dropping by 1,5% during the February sales period. The prices of clothing and shoes are notably increasing by 3,3% after falling by 3,8% in February. The method of administering fuel prices, deferring the effects of commodity prices on pump prices, allowed Reunion Island to temporarily escape, a March, the consequences of the war launched against Iran on February 28 by Israel and the United States. While the prices of petroleum products soared by 17,1% in mainland France, they started to rise again on the island but by 2,1% only, after two months of withdrawal. Food products continued to increase in March (+0,5 %, after +0,2% in February and +0,7% in January), the prices of fresh products increasing more quickly (+2,2 %). Those of services increased by 0,2 %, pulled by transport (+10,5 %) due to an increase in plane ticket prices. Over a year, between March 2025 and March 2026, consumer prices remained stable in Reunion, while they increased by 1,7% nationally.
