The consumer price index fell by 0,5% in Reunion in February 2026, compared to January, after two months of stability, according to INSEE. Over a year, between February 2025 and February 2026, consumer prices also remained stable in Reunion, while they increased by 0,9% nationally.
Food prices increased by 0,2% in January after an increase of 0,7% in January. Prices of fresh produce increase for the second consecutive month (+2,7% after +5,4% in January) while those of other food products have been stable for three months. The prices of manufactured products, for their part, fell by 1,5% on the month, which corresponds to the sales period. They had just increased for three consecutive months (+0,3% in January, after +0,3% in December and +0,9% in November). The prices of the services are, as far as they are concerned, stabilized after a slight decline in January (-0,2 %). After the high season in the air, the prices of transport services fell again by 13,6% in February after a drop of 10,3% in January. Prices for communications services remained stable, while those of rents, water and household waste collection and those of other health services increase (respectively 0,2 % et 0,4 %). Energy prices have generally fallen by 0,9% in February : -1,6% for petroleum products, stability for the gas bottle and +0,9% for electricity. Finally, tobacco prices remained stable over the month.
