April 23, they renewed their Board of Directors and elected their office for the 2026-2028 term during their departmental general assembly. A new mandate placed under the sign of collective commitment and continuity.

At the end of this day, Jonathan Hoarau was elected president of the Young Farmers Meeting. Established in pig farming and plant diversification in the South, he takes office with the desire to bring together : " Today, there are no winners or losers, but a team that is being put in place. We all have the same desire : advance our agriculture. » After five years at the head of the union, Guillaume Sellier, on the other hand, took stock of an intense mandate marked by numerous crises : climatic, economic, and structural. “We were faced with an accumulation of challenges… and yet we held on, because we were a committed collective who never gave up. » During his mandate, the Young Farmers of Réunion have indeed carried out many battles : the defense of the sectors, supporting young people, the questioning of public authorities, or even improving governance in the cane sector.

Work, respect, collective

Widely renewed, the team takes up its duties in a context that remains as demanding for the island's agriculture : renewal of generations, adaptation to climate change, increase in charges, sector and food sovereignty issues. Faced with these challenges, the Young Farmers of Réunion “reaffirm their desire to defend all sectors and all agriculture without distinction, in a spirit of unity and collective responsibility”.
