The annual France Travail survey on labor needs in Reunion shows a drop of 6% compared to 2023. In 2024, 37,900 hires are planned by Reunion establishments, i.e. 2,500 fewer than the previous year.
Among the 37,900 recruitment projects considered, 16,100 concern public establishments and associations, and 21,800 from private establishments, or 57% of the total. Recruitment projects of private companies record a decrease of 11% (-2 600) compared to 2023. The proportion of companies planning to hire falls from 33% to 29%, the number of recruitment projects is decreasing in all sectors, particularly in construction (-22 %, 1,050 fewer recruitments). Recruitment difficulties anticipated by private actors decrease by two points in one year, but remain at a very high level. They are particularly strong in the accommodation and catering sectors, construction, health and social action. The professions most sought after by companies in 2024 are kitchen helpers and versatile catering employees, qualified masons, the cashiers, security guards and clothing salespeople, accessories, sports articles, leisure and cultural.
