On average in the 1st quarter of 2026, the number of job seekers registered with France Travail and required to look for a job (categories A, B, C) stood at 150,010.
Among them, 110,520 were unemployed (category A), 39,490 had a reduced activity and were looking for a new one (categories B and C). In category A, the figure decreased by 5,9% in the 1st quarter (-7,550 registered) and 8,1% over one year. The number of people registered with France Travail who were neither awaiting orientation nor on a social pathway stood on average at 170,080 (categories A, B, C, D, E), i.e. a drop of 4,3% over the quarter and 5% over one year. Within the two categories created in January 2025, 17,882 people were registered in the social program (category F) and 20,611 were awaiting guidance from the employment network (category G). The decline in unemployment recorded in the 1st quarter concerns all age categories.
