The number of job seekers enrolled in France work and required to seek a job (categories A, B, C) stood at 158,350 on average in the 1st quarter of 2025 in Reunion.

This figure increases by 2,5% compared to the previous quarter and 3% year-on-year. Among these registrants, 120,310 were unemployed (category A) and 38,040 had reduced activity (categories B, C). The progression is much more marked among young people. The number of people registered with France Travail under the age of 25 stood at 24,550 on average during the first three months of 2025. : +11,9% over the quarter and +14,6 % in one year. The increase in the number of older unemployed is much more moderate : +1% in three months and +1,4% over one year for 25-49 year olds, +0,7 % et +0,5% for registrants aged 50 and over. The rise in unemployment is less marked in Reunion than in the country as a whole, where the number of unemployed registered in categories A, B and C increased by 4,5% in three months and 6,4% over one year. Stronger progressions than in Reunion Island are also recorded in Guadeloupe, in Guyana and Martinique. It should be noted, since January 1, 2025, certain populations are systematically registered on the France Travail lists : applicants and beneficiaries of active solidarity income (RSA), young people looking for work supported by local missions and people with disabilities supported by Cap emploi. The statistics on those registered with France Travail have been adapted accordingly.
