Aimed at future students wishing to find their way in fields as varied as administration, tourism or commerce, the seventh Forum Sup’ des Formations Tertiaires opened its doors in face-to-face mode on Saturday February 12 at the Cité des Métiers in Saint-Pierre. The opportunity for future high school graduates to come with their families to receive help in choosing their path and navigating Parcoursup a few days before a decisive orientation week.
Since 2016, the City of Trades of Reunion, the delegated directors for professional and technological training and the psychologists of the National Education of the South Basin of the island, come together and organize this event to enlighten students in their efforts relating to their orientation and the construction of their professional career. Like every year, the event was unmissable for final high school students who are wondering about their student future. On this occasion, the forum received visits from several representatives of National Education, including Sandrine Ingremeau, deputy academic director, Michel Muller, head of information and guidance services at the Rectorate, Véronique Champigny, National Education inspector specialized in guidance and information, as well as Laurent Brault, academic delegate for continuing professional training. The number of young people who made the trip testifies to the attractiveness of this sector, which offers the most job prospects in Reunion.
The tertiary, leading economic sector of the island.
Job creator, the tertiary sector brings together a very large number of professions which are found in all companies or are more specialized in a particular sector (accountants, administrative, commercial, tourist…). Every year, it always attracts more high school graduates. What higher tertiary training courses exist in Reunion Island? ? How to access it and what are the prerequisites ? Who to contact to take steps to build your training course ? What help if I want to study elsewhere ? So many questions asked by the forty partner exhibitors present at the seventh Forum Sup’ des Formations du Tertiaire, all stakeholders in student life, were asked to respond during this morning.
A very family edition
Despite the health crisis, future students were there : a thousand students came to find answers to the questions they have about their future. If a third of them went to the Cité des Métiers as part of an outing planned by their school, two thirds came on their own initiative, often accompanied by their parents. A new family dimension for this event which, for the first time, took place on the weekend. “The event was a success, with many students, many families who came to seek information on post-baccalaureate pathways. The students present took the time to explain their courses, by making students want to project themselves into the future. It’s really the most important” testifies Sandrine Ingremeau, deputy academic director.
