In recent weeks, dissensions within the world of agricultural cooperation, appeared regarding the control of the capital of the Evollys poultry slaughterhouse in Étang-Salé (disputed between Urcoopa and the private company Duchemann and Grondin), have worsened. Terracoop (former Avirons cooperative, founding member of Urcoopa) has in fact presented a proposal for the takeover of Soficoop, financial holding company of Urcoopa, heavily in debt and in receivership. This unfriendly act raised a wave of union concerns, and this in the numerous subsidiaries of the cooperative union as well as Terracoop. March 20, the general meeting of Urcoopa had included on its agenda the withdrawal of the mandate of administrator of Terracoop, which would have been synonymous with a breakdown of the Reunion agricultural cooperation model. At the last moment, the parties decided on a truce and a continuation of discussions regarding Evollys and Soficoop, while awaiting a judicial decision on the recovery plan thereof.
