While continuing the reconstruction of what was destroyed by Garance, EDF Réunion implements a major investment program.
Renovation work on the painting of the penstock at the Sainte-Rose power station, started in 2024, should be completed this year, for an amount of 14 million euros. The redesign of the Orgues water intake, which supplies the same power plant, will be initiated this year and will last until 2030, for a bill estimated at 40 million euros. The same amount will be needed to modernize the Takamaka power plant until 2029, whose funicular will also be renovated for 18 million euros. On the networks, in addition to the definitive reconstruction of the high voltage lines destroyed by Garance in the East (25 million euros to be disbursed in the next two years), EDF Réunion is preparing to begin restructuring the high voltage network in the south of the island, for a total cost of 100 million euros until 2031. Securing the electricity supply to the Cilaos cirque is also on the agenda., for 11 million euros.
