Late January, the Regional Climate Study Group (GREEK) of Reunion Island was installed at the initiative of the Region. Around ten French regions already have a GREC, space for reflection, consultation and action at the interface between the scientific and academic world and local stakeholders.
“The GREC-Réunion aims to improve the territory’s capacity to anticipate and adapt to the impacts of climate change”, indicates the region. “It must contribute to producing more readable collective action, more consistent, and more efficient. » Its governance is both scientific, institutional, socio-economic and civic. He understands : a consultative assembly for climate and territorial adaptation ; a strategic orientation committee, scientific and technical ; a scientific and technical committee composed of research representatives; and finally a secretariat responsible for animation and operational management. Thematic working groups will be formed according to priorities. 19 local players signed the founding partnership agreement : the Region ; the state ; the Department ; the five intermunicipalities and the Association of Mayors ; the University ; Météo-France ; the CNRS ; l’IRD ; the BRGM ; CIRAD and Inserm (the seven members of the scientific and technical committee) ; the Bank of the Territories ; l’AFD ; and Ademe (the three financiers).
