With this experimental approach, the distillery signs the 4th edition of its collection combining contemporary art and rum creation. This collaboration with the artist Xandro (Alexandre Lafaurie) extends the ambition of the house, who wants to push the boundaries of rum.
The principle of Art of Rum ? Bringing an artist and a master blender into dialogue. For this edition, Xandro, Basque artist influenced by street art, painting and graphics, invests rum as a medium in its own right. After three editions carried out with local artists (Fixed and 2023, Yann Le Gall in 2024, and Repy in 2025), Savanna here opens her territory of expression to an outside artist, deeply attached to Reunion. A development that opens the project to a more international dimension by broadening its reach. Each artist delivers a work nourished by the emotions aroused by the island, its diversity and intensity but also by the singularity of Savanna rums. Inspired by Reunion, this vintage wants to translate this energy between contrasts, colors and vibration, by offering a double reading, both visual and sensory, rum.
1,700 numbered bottles
This 2026 edition is based on a blend of traditional and high ester rums (great aroma) – a particularity of Savanna –, all raised just a stone's throw from the ocean in cell 4 of the distillery cellar, the famous Savanna wet cellar. Composition : traditional rum 6 years, aged in ex-cognac barrels ; traditional rum 9 years, matured in ex-muscatel barrels ; rhum LORD, distilled in 2006, rested for 11 years in vats before being aged for 8 years in ex-cognac and ex-port barrels. The whole develops an intense profile, tropical, structured by an elegant woody. Art of Rum by Xandro is a limited edition of 1,700 numbered bottles. The vintage was unveiled on February 28 at Villa Fleurié, in Saint-Denis.
