The Islands Economic Forum in October in Mauritius
“Rethink tomorrow” : this is the theme chosen for the 13th Indian Ocean Islands Economic Forum which will be held on 11, October 12 and 13 in Mauritius, after two years of interruption due to pandemic. Conferences, round tables, workshops and B2B meetings will be held at the Caudan Arts Center in Port-Louis. This edition is co-organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mauritius and Cap Business Ocean Indian, with the support of the French Development Agency. “The objective is to invite economic players to think together about the major challenges of tomorrow. The Russian-Ukrainian conflict has confirmed our vulnerabilities revealed by the Covid-19 pandemic, in particular by accentuating tensions on international supply chains, comments Joséphine Andriamamonjiarison, president of Cap Business Indian Ocean. This situation calls for a constructive dialogue between stakeholders, both public and private, to give new impetus to regional cooperation. »

French research is committed to the Indian Ocean
From July 25 to 27, 25 French public decision-makers sailed between Mayotte and Reunion aboard the oceanographic vessel Marion Dufresne, time for a unique seminar devoted to various economic themes, scientific and environmental issues linked to the sea and more particularly to the Indian Ocean. Huguette Bello, president of the Réunion region, Vêlayoudom Marimoutou, Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Commission and Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, ambassador for maritime poles and issues, took part in the trip alongside senior officials from several ministries and heads of major public research organizations. When they return to land, the participants made a series of commitments aimed in particular at supporting the development of the blue economy in the Overseas Territories and launching new studies on the fishery resources and marine ecosystems of the Indian Ocean.
