It was on February 21 in Saint-André that the first stone of the Shop Park shopping center was laid by Vincent Ravat, CEO of Mercialys, and Joé Bédier, mayor of the town.
The project will emerge from the ground on a plot of 32,000 m2, bordered by Chemin Lefaguyes, at the back of the La Cocoteraie shopping center. The Shop Park, whose construction will require an investment of 25 million euros, will consist of six buildings spread over two levels. They will accommodate medium-sized areas, restaurants, a gym and leisure areas as well as 15,000 m2 of shops and services, a multidisciplinary health center and 353 parking spaces. We expect the creation of 200 jobs as soon as the shopping center comes into operation., announced for the end of 2027. Mercialys estimates the number of inhabitants in the catchment area of the future Saint-Andréen Shop Park at 165,000., including 57,000 residents less than 20 minutes away. Last year, the project had aroused reluctance, among the merchants of downtown Saint-André. The national group, at the head of a built heritage of three billion euros, is a commercial real estate company listed on the Paris Stock Exchange and has been present in Reunion Island for around twenty years. It owns the buildings which house the Beaulieu shopping centers in Saint-Benoît., from Grand-Large to Saint-Pierre, from Duparc to Sainte-Marie, and from Cap Sacré-Cœur to the Port.
