For the second year in a row, Mascarin chocolates and the Globice association set up their partnership as part of the whale operation. From July 14 to August 31, Collector boxes and chocolate shelves in the image of the cetacean are sold in limited edition. For each box sold, One euro is donated to the association.

After last year's success, This time, 6,000 collector boxes and caramel and Saint-Leu salt bars were produced.. “The success of the operation in 2024 naturally led us to perpetuate this partnership with Globice. He perfectly embodies Mascarin’s values : a strong local anchor, a sincere commitment to biodiversity and a desire to raise awareness in a different way, through gluttony and artistic creation”, specifies Frédéric Auché, president of Mascarin. For this new tribute to the whale season, long awaited every year, Mascarin launched a call for projects from Reunion artists so that they could propose a visual for the future chocolate boxes of the operation. Nearly 200 artists responded. Eleven of them were selected. A jury composed of Mascarin, of the Globice association and the Réunion art school has chosen one of the winners, the other was chosen by the public.

Reunion talents highlighted

The Oscian won the jury vote. This illustrator and street artist from Les Avirons seduced him with a work evoking harmony, migration and poetry. A nod also to our island : in addition to the whale, we discover the Piton des Neiges and the volcano, giving the impression of a moving island. The audience, on the other hand, praised the work of MNK, a Saint-Pierre artist who chose to represent two whales above an old map of Reunion Island. The large whale seems to guide or protect the smaller one, a metaphor for transmission and protection within marine biodiversity. “This new project allows us to promote the artistic wealth of our island while raising awareness of the preservation of our natural heritage”, explains Frédéric Auché.

Reaffirmed support for Globice’s work

On his side, the Globice association continues its work to protect whales. It particularly encourages observation from the coast, thanks to its Balèn terla application, allowing you to locate the appearances of cetaceans around the island. Like the first year, an educational booklet about whales is included in each box, it describes in particular the good observation practices to be respected. These collector boxes and tablets are available in supermarkets, as well as duty free at Roland-Garros airport. Because it is also a gourmet and committed souvenir to slip into your suitcases.
