Ferpection, consultancy in UX studies and research (user experience) for improving mobile sites and applications, presents the six major UX trends that will significantly modify and evolve the user experience in the near future.

1 : Extended reality
Extended reality encompasses three notions : virtual reality, augmented reality and the metaverse. These three technologies are already changing our lives, in our consumption patterns and will continue to develop in 2022. This development will impact design design : la 2D, used on phone or computer screens, will gradually give way to 3D. This promises better immersion and even more ease in connecting and interacting with those around you., wherever you are in the world. The implications of extended reality are not just fun, because many sectors, like the medical world and research, will also benefit from it. At a time when teleconsultations are exploding, it will soon be more practical for doctors to accompany their patients in VR. Thanks to augmented reality and 3D vision, studying a product or a situation in real life despite its virtual side will no longer be a problem.

2 : Artificial intelligence
The general term artificial intelligence refers to all kinds of intelligence generated by a computer.. Today so-called “low intelligence” AIs predominate, but we will soon be able to produce AI more like humans. This trend is interesting for UX because this technology will make it possible to generate wireframes (user interface diagram) basics and do pre-tests in AI before launching user studies with humans. However, let UX specialists rest assured : AI is not ready to take over from humans, its expertise having never been so important.

3 : The metaverse
Although there is no clear definition yet, most specialists agree on one point : the metaverse brings together all of the AI and augmented reality developments. Selon Mark Zuckerberg, these would be interconnected virtual spaces, connected to the real world and making human presence in these areas more tangible than it is currently. Imagine, attend a concert taking place in space from your sofa and a few moments later, in underwater immersion. Or take a walk in Japan while you are on the other side of the world. Namely that Meta (formerly Facebook) is not the only company interested in the issue and that this trend will probably be talked about a lot in 2022.

4 : Data visualization
Data visualization is not new, but it is becoming more and more important. Abstract information no longer has a place in decent communication in 2022. Today we need to illustrate facts and make this data attractive to the reader.. The reader has a limited attention span, this is why it is necessary to prioritize and make this information both interesting and entertaining. This not only sends a clear message, but also to maintain the user's attention. You have to be vigilant and not drown the reader in a flood of boring data : they must be simplified. Visitors don't have time to decipher complicated information. It is therefore necessary to opt for tables, graphics, illustrations or even static or interactive infographics.

5 : The mix of UX research methods
Over the past two years, customer demands evolve : they are increasingly seeking to combine qualitative and quantitative methods. If the “quanti” approach allows for clear and quantified data, the “quali” approach deciphers, she, user behaviors. A mix of techniques that takes the situation in its entirety and provides an overall and no longer fragmented vision. A UX, this therefore results in a better understanding of users and their actions regarding a product, but also, by a better definition of personas. The plurality of research can be implemented at all stages of development of a product or service. You have to understand where, quoi, comment, and why users would be interested in what is offered. So, all the keys are in hand to establish a relationship of solid and deep trust with them. The benefits of mixing methods are multiple : better targeting of popular products ; better targeting of the ideal customer ; better product improvements and cost reduction. By immediately targeting all the good practices to be put in place thanks to quality/quantity, there is no need to return to the product once it is put on sale.

6 : Ecodesign
Designing a site or mobile application by integrating an eco-design approach allows you to optimize resources, but this approach must be closely linked to UX. Usability, performance, sobriety, eco-design and UX tend to offer the user an efficient journey, fast and intuitive. It is therefore interesting to take a close look at the evolution of this UX trend in 2022.
