Prices started to rise again in July

After an unexpected drop of 0,3 % in June, consumer prices have started to rise again (+1,1 %) in July, according to INSEE. Prices in all major consumer sectors are increasing, especially the services (+1,8 %) and energy (+1,4 %). The rise in prices for transport services has increased (+21,8 %), driven exclusively by air transport (+24 %). The prices of rent and related services and those of communication services remained stable, those of health services fell by 0,4 %. The prices of other services have increased by 0,7 %. In the energy sector, after two months of decline, prices of petroleum products increased by 2,1 % (+3 cents for the liter of premium fuel and diesel). Gas and electricity prices remained stable. The prices of manufactured products have increased by 0,2% in July after an equivalent drop in June. In food, prices increased slightly again (+0,2% after +0,1% in June), after more significant increases during the first months of the year. Prices of fresh produce fall by 0,2 %, those of other food products continue to increase (+0,3 %), an uninterrupted increase since December 2021. Over twelve months, Prices increase by 1,5% in Reunion, which is significantly less than in France (+4,3 %), and less than in previous months.
