The consumer price index fell 0,6 % in the meeting in February compared to January, according to INSEE. This drop follows the increase in January (+0,9 %), which was the largest since July 2023.
If food prices have increased again (+0,9 %) under the effect of the increase in prices of fresh products (+6,3 %), sales have pushed down the prices of manufactured products (-1,4 %). Energy prices fell by 3,4 %, after three months of increase, thanks to the fall in electricity prices (-12,6 %), occurred on February 1. On the other hand, prices of petroleum products increased for the fourth consecutive month (+3,1 %). The seasonal drop in airfares finally explains that of 0,2% measured across all services.
