First French house of organic and fair teas, The Gaïa gardens take a new stage in their commitment to the planet by important their raw materials from Vietnam by Voilier-Cargo.
This development of the transport of goods to sail deserves all the more to be emphasized as it is Artemis, One of the sailboats of the Towt company, who transported the raw material for the new range of teas from the gardens of Gaïa. The sailboat Artemis weighed anchor for the first time from the port of Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City in September 2024, before joining the port of Le Havre on December 14 after 45 days of navigation punctuated by two stopovers, the first in Reunion and the second in Brazil. These organic teas transported by sail come from the 268 families of small producers of the Bân Liên cooperative, a historic partner of the Gardens of Gaïa. This first batch of organic teas was transported from the port of Saigon, at Ho Chi Minh Ville, to Le Havre before being packaged by hand in Alsace. This mode of transport allows the Les Jardins de Gaïa brand to considerably reduce its carbon footprint : an estimated reduction of 2 tonnes of CO2 compared to conventional transport. Teas imported by cargo sailboat represent some 45,000 bags of 80 g and 100 g. The packaging bears the words “transported by sail directly from the producers”. Read also p 60.
