Roland-Garros airport welcomed 2,689,954 passengers in 2023, figure increasing by 8,1% compared to 2019, before the outbreak of the health crisis.
The increase is 14,7% compared to 2022, year still marked, at its beginning, by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Frequency on lines between mainland France and Reunion Island continued to increase (1,564 million passengers, +7,1% compared to 2019), driven by a significant tourist flow. The year 2023 has, also, given the recovery, as if complete, regional traffic. The number of passengers, globally, increased by almost 40% on Indian Ocean lines compared to 2022, and 10% compared to 2019. Attendance on Reunion-Mauritius flights crosses the 600,000 passenger mark for the first time (+13% compared to 2019) ; serving the sister island R confirming its rank as the second source of activity for the airport, after that of France. The Réunion-Mayotte link maintains its strong dynamism (215,000 passengers, +28% compared to 2019). Flights between Reunion Island and Malagasy airports have, on the other hand, recorded a 15% drop in passenger numbers, in connection with the difficulties of the company Madagascar Airlines. Attendance on lines to South Africa and the Seychelles increased last year, without however regaining its 2019 level, unlike the service to the Comoros (+4 %). On international long-haul, the Réunion-Bangkok line records an increase of 21% compared to 2019.
