The Riz Réunion Association, supported in particular by the Chamber of Agriculture and the Departmental Council, launched an experimental rainfed rice cultivation campaign, very developed on the island in the 19th century but which has completely disappeared today. For 16 months, the ARR will plant the early dourado variety, that which was cultivated in the past, in small plots spread across different regions of the island. Data will thus be collected on the most suitable areas and the optimal schedule for such production.. The association will also offer training, at the end of the years, to more than 70 farmers who expressed interest in the experience.
