The number of job seekers required to look for one and without activity (category A) decreased by 1,4% in the 3rd quarter and 5,3% over one year, according to the latest official figures. It stood on average at 128,450 registered with Pôle Emploi. The drop is less significant when including the unemployed who nevertheless exercised reduced activity : -0,9% over the quarter and -2,4% over one year, for a total of 160,700 people. A decline in unemployment has been noted since the second quarter of 2020, thanks to employment support measures and the resistance of the local economy to the health crisis. Over a year, the decline in unemployment is more significant among those under 25 : -9,9% for those registered in category A, -6% for categories A, B and C. The measures of the “a young person” plan, a solution », notably incentives for signing apprenticeship contracts, seem to bear fruit. The latest figures from Pôle Emploi also show a drop of 5,4% of long-term unemployed compared to the third quarter of 2020. People registered for more than a year constitute more than half of the total workforce.
