The number of job seekers required to look for one and without activity (category A) averaged 126,410 in the fourth quarter of 2021 on the island. He moves back 4,4% over one year (-5,860 registered). The reduction is less by grouping the A categories, B and C Pôle Emploi and including those registered who carried out a reduced activity over the period : -2,3% over the year (159,280 registered). The decline in unemployment is more marked among those registered aged 25 to 49 (-6,1%) and remains significant among those under 25 (-5,9%). Seniors are less concerned by the trend, but the increase in the number of registrants aged 50 and over stopped in 2021 (-0,7% in category A). By recently presenting its annual report, the regional management of Pôle Emploi, for its part, underlined that the drop in those registered in category A was mitigated by the 20% increase in those registered in the category of registered workers exercising partial activity for more than 78 hours per month. This development seems to reflect, like in the metropolis, a greater use of temporary work since the start of the health crisis. Figures from Pôle Emploi also confirm the dynamism of the job market in 2021, supported by economic recovery and job protection measures in the sectors most exposed to the health crisis. Job offers collected jumped 15% compared to 2019, with, without surprise, an explosion in recruitment in health professions. 72,600 applicants, i.e. almost half of the total number of registered participants, found employment for more than a month in 2021, compared to 65,000 in 2020. The number of long-term job seekers, unemployed for more than a year and who represent more than half of those registered with Pôle Emploi, finally decreased by 3,8% between February 2020 and December 2021.
