An original project : the painter Allan Stephens creates a series of paintings in voluntary companies illustrating Reunion’s industry, with the support of the cultural affairs department of La Réunion. Around twenty companies have opened their doors to him. Among them, Soboriz.
From March 11 to 15, Soboriz welcomed the Franco-English painter Allan Stephens for his project entitled “Art and Industry on the Island”. A colorful report which will focus on around twenty Reunion industries. During this week of intervention, Allan Stephens created a large 146 x 114 cm canvas of the Soboriz packing room, as well as Liam's portraits, factory manager, and Anjalie, quality assistant. This immersion in the industrial world provokes an unprecedented meeting of two professions, two universes, which will coexist during the creation of the acrylic paintings on canvas. This cultural project aims to promote local industries, of their products, as well as the men and women who work there. A fan of figurative painting anchored in reality, Allan Stephens excels at showing real places and real people. A final exhibition of Art and Industry on the island, bringing together all the tables, will be organized during the year in order to publicize and promote this image of the industrial island and its stakeholders.
