A study carried out by Ipsos Indian Ocean for the Air Pub agency, which manages the advertising agency at Roland-Garros airport, shows that 60% of Reunion Islanders (nearly 420,000 people aged 16 and over) have been to “Gillot” at least once in the last twelve months.

The study estimates 1,2 million the number of attendant visits over the year, almost one in two Reunion Islanders went there to welcome or accompany a loved one. 263,000 travelers were recorded, 37% of Reunion Islanders have taken a plane at least once a year, with an average of 1,7 trips per person. Without surprise, higher socio-professional categories travel more than the average : they represent 34% of travelers compared to only 21% of the population. “In addition to being the gateway to and from the island, the airport is also a place where a large part of Reunion Islanders meet, that they travel, whether they work or accompany their loved ones”, comments Armelle Garnier, Managing Director of Ipsos Indian Ocean. The study was carried out from April 11 to June 25, 2025 with 1,244 people representative of the island's population..
