Nicolas Moufflet, President and CEO of Lyspackaging, announces the launch of another production unit in Guadeloupe by the end of the year.

Before the pandemic, you announced more than 10 million VeganBottles produced. Where are you today and how is the company doing after the crisis? ?

We doubled our turnover during the Covid crisis by developing our activity which is essential since it involves manufacturing bottles and bottles mainly for the food industry., cosmetics, hygiene and maintenance. Containers for example for hydroalcoholic gel. In addition, we have innovated by offering new ranges of products such as cups., food supplement pill boxes, as well as our new lyspackaging development service for engineering, tailor-made support for our clients

Does Lyspackaging only produce biosourced bagasse-based containers? ?

Non, no way. We are developing a set of recipes for materials that are based on plants or minerals such as flax., hemp, nuclei, pips, clay, reed, shells, and of course sugar cane. We produce mixtures according to requests and consistency with our customers while respecting specifications.. Our VeganBottle GO bottle is mainly made from the co-product of sugar cane, but our shampoo bottles tend to come from reeds…. We try to integrate local resources.

Where does the bagasse with which you produce your intermediate pellet material come from? ?

We have several partners for sugar cane, located everywhere in the humid tropics except in South America.

Is the transport of bagasse taken into account when comparing the LCA of VeganBottle with that of PET? ?

Transport is taken into account in our greenhouse emissions calculation (CO2), but its impact is negligible compared to emissions linked to manufacturing. Note that PET mainly comes from Asia.

Where is your Mauritian project for manufacturing containers from imported pellets under duty-free? ? Do you have other similar projects around the world? ?

The project is already implemented, our product partner since March. Mauritius is therefore ahead of Reunion Island in eradicating petrochemical plastic bottles.. Before the end of 2021, a production unit will be installed in Guadeloupe. Others will follow.

Have you designed a VeganBottle specifically for rums ?

Yes, we have standard bottles with designs that are perfectly suited to rum packaging. Our Mauritian partner already packages, in partnership with the company La Bourdonnais, rums in our bottles which are made in Mauritius.

Is a local manufacturing project possible in Reunion? ?

Obviously ! If an investor comes forward, we can provide a solution as is the case for Guadeloupe and Mauritius.
