A multi -year culture and health convention (2023-2027) was signed on February 3 by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DAC), the regional health agency (ARS), the Department and the Region. This partnership, born from an interministerial desire in 1999, has been implemented in Reunion by the DAC and the ARS since 2013 to encourage the development of cultural and artistic projects within places of care for patients, caregivers and administrative staff. The Region and the Department wanted to join in “in order to facilitate the development of links between health and cultural structures and thus promote access to art and culture for people weakened by their state of health”. Since 2013, annual calls for projects are launched towards health stakeholders and the artistic community. A Culture and Health label will soon be created in order to distinguish places of care for the quality of their cultural and artistic policy.. Likewise, a new “culture on prescription” system will aim to promote art and artistic and cultural practices as a lever for well-being and mental health.
