The historic store in the heart of Saint-Denis is beginning a major metamorphosis. First step : a completely redesigned basement, where a modernized DIY universe now rubs shoulders with an offer of indoor and outdoor furniture.
It was seven decades ago. Issop Ravate founded the hardware store which would become the number one non-food distribution group in Reunion. Here is the DIY section which is making a comeback in downtown Saint-Denis ! “For 70 years, Ravate supports the people of Reunion in their homes and their projects. Entire generations have pushed open its doors to build, beautify their home. Today, it’s our turn to open the doors to a redesigned House for them, more inspiring, more modern but still faithful to our identity : listening, and proximity. This transformation marks the beginning of a chapter, with the desire to reaffirm Maison Ravate as the essential department store dedicated to the world of home », underlines Aisha Ravate, head of strategy.
A new basement to discover
The return of DIY to city centers is a national trend. Requested in Saint-Denis by many customers, it demonstrates the Ravate group's desire to constantly evolve to meet the needs of diverse customers. Dionysian urban customers find the fundamentals of hardware within reach : tools, screws, paint, electricity, plumbing, sanitary, jardin, household products… This basement also offers interior furniture : canapés, chairs, dining rooms, and decorative objects ; and also an offer dedicated to outdoor furniture, with original collections in line with the tastes of the Reunionese.
Next steps
This is the opportunity for the store to adopt this new name – Maison Ravate – , associated with a new visual identity embodying its transformation. An Instagram account @la_maison_ravate has been created to allow customers to follow the stages of the store's evolution and to stay informed of offers. The metamorphosis will indeed continue throughout the year, with the opening of spaces dedicated to multimedia, to household appliances, in cooking or even tableware. The project will end with the complete redesign of the entrance. The whole will be completed at the end of 2026.
“The Ravate House, a whole art of living”
“At Ravate, everything for the house » : faithful to this historic promise, the brand brings it up to date with a redesigned signature, “The Ravate House, a whole art of living”, which fully illustrates its ambition. “Since always, a strong bond brings us together around the same passion : the house, your houses. It’s a story that we write together generation after generation, and this is what deeply drives us”, concludes Aisha Ravate.
