With braille inscriptions on each card, UNO Braille represents an important step towards accessible entertainment, allowing visually impaired people to enjoy the joy of gaming.
It is on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that the toy company Mattel, owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, launches UNO Braille on December 3. This new edition of the famous card game has been designed so that blind or visually impaired players can fully enjoy this game which has brought together generations for over fifty years.. Mattel thus reinforces its commitment to making gaming accessible to all. The game includes 108 cards with Braille inscriptions indicating color, the number or action. So, UNO Braille retains the classic principle of associating colors and numbers to be the first to get rid of their cards, with small adaptations to facilitate shared play. This edition of UNO also includes icons, designed to help colorblind gamers easily identify colors. Last year, the company announced that 90% of its games portfolio would be accessible to color blind people by the end of 2025 through the use of symbols, patterns and tactile cues removing visual barriers.
