Listed in February 2020 on the list of non-cooperative countries, in matters of taxation, with the European Union, the Seychelles are working to get out of it. The country implemented a tax reform in February which will notably guarantee a good level of information on the tax exemptions enjoyed by companies based in the country but operating abroad.. As soon as the reform is voted on, the Seychelles will return to plead their case in the hope of being better rated. The country was sanctioned in 2020 for not having fulfilled a previous commitment to reform its tax system by the December 31, 2019 deadline.. The damage to the reputation of countries placed on the blacklist seems to be gradually taking effect. In a similar situation, Mauritius is also trying to regain the confidence of the European Union.
