The town hall of Saint-Denis has just started the rehabilitation of the Jamaica landfill, located by the sea at the eastern entrance to the town.
Operated until the early 1990s, it extends over approximately 8 hectares and contains an estimated volume of 920,000 m³ of waste. The work aims in particular to install waterproofing and rainwater management systems., and also to protect the site against erosion. Ademe (the state agency for ecological transition) fully finances the operation to the tune of 9,4 million euros.
