Baranne attached to the manufactured in France

The historic brand specializing in leather and shoes care has been re -elected favorite brand of the French in its category in particular for the opening this year of a new industrial line in the pole.

Baranne invested in early 2025 in a brand new luxury polish production line in Rémalard-en-Perche, in the Orne. The manufacture of metal boxes for shoe polish, she, was repatriated to Anet, in Eure-et-Loire, less than 100 km. Baranne thus contributes to the reindustrialization of territories in a short circuit logic. “We are pleased that Baranne has received this distinction as the French favorite brand for the second time in a row.. This is a sign of consumers’ attachment to the quality of our products., symbol of historic French know-how”, said Richard Lerosey, general manager of Heritage. With more than a hundred years of history, Baranne has established itself as the reference in the leather care market, then gradually basketball and, wider, of the shoe as a whole (soles and laces). In 2024, Baranne confirmed its leadership in large and medium-sized stores, with 64% of the shoe polish market share in value (+5 points compared to 2023).

A heritage brand

It was in 1913 that Roger Baranne founded the brand, by launching its first polish to maintain leather furniture. With the gradual expansion of its range, Baranne successfully entered mass distribution in the 1980s. In 2021, it was taken over by the French SME Héritage with other cleaning brands, like Décap’Four, I wonder, Vigor, Terra, O'Cedar, Minidou and Bonux. In this context, Baranne focuses on working on her core business, leather, with the relaunch of products such as its historic round boxes, its tubes of luxury cream and its little “1913” pomaders. From 2022, it has integrated French beeswax into its formulas to improve their quality and participate in the circular economy with beekeepers. In 2025, 70% of Baranne products are made in France.
