In July 2020, the Department of the Environment, Planning and Housing, the Regional Health Agency, the Ecological Transition Agency (Ademe) and the Crédit Agricole Foundation launched a call for projects in Réunion on the challenges of sustainable food and the circular economy. The operation had several objectives : promote eating habits with low environmental impact, limit exposure to endocrine disruptors in food, fight against food waste, promote local organic production, replace the use of single-use plastics in food. 45 files were submitted, by companies, communities or associations, 11 winners were chosen at the end of the year : they will benefit from support for a total amount of 92,000 euros. In the list, there are responsible consumption workshops in Saint-Denis, Ownership, Saint Joseph, workshops and training in agroecology and legumes (at Leconte-de-Lisle high school in Saint-Denis), the creation of educational paths, of a show, of a documentary film, a guide and educational games, a low-tech food processing laboratory and the development of a cooperative food shop.
