The Reunion Region and socio -professional organizations representing the building sector signed on February 11 a sector contract for tropical buildings, aimed at accelerating the transition of practices to a bioclimatic design of buildings.
The region has indeed identified this sector as a priority, Due to the challenges it brings : Adaptation to climate change, the decrease in import dependence, improving the living environment and thermal comfort of buildings, employment. In preparation since 2018, The sector contract pursues several objectives : the structuring and coordination of actors, strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector, the mobilization of funding to support innovation, Ecological training and transition, All that should be the subject of rigorous follow -up. The implementation of this strategy implies the development of new constructive techniques (Biosourced materials, Bioclimatic design, Thermal optimization without excessive air conditioning), strengthening training courses specializing in sustainable construction and continuing education on new regulations, supporting companies towards eco -responsible practices and the strengthening of collaborations between research and companies.
